RMMRU Capacity Building for combating trafficking of women and children in Bangladesh
This project was funded by International Organization for Migration. The project started in March 2002 and ended in February 2004. Total budget of this project was Tk. 23,53,500. The capacity building on combating trafficking project had three target population; elected members of Union Parishad; staff members of local NGOs working in the boarder areas and direct target beneficiaries/village people. The project was targeted to increase the knowledge and understanding on the complexity of human trafficking and build capacity of local people to prevent trafficking.
There were three partner organizations in this project: RMMRU, Rights Jessore and Association for Community Development, Rajshahi. The project was operating simultaneously in Jessore, Rajshahi and Dhaka. Under this project RMMRU prepared a training module, and support materials and trained the NGO staffs. RMMRU also developed an anti-trafficking drama as training tool. RMMRU was also monitoring field training and other field interventions implemented by partner organizations.
- The final out put of the project was a set of training module and materials, with Communication support system.
- 330 union parishad chairmen and members received training to implement anti- trafficking programmes in their own constituencies.
- Staff members of different NGOs received training.
- 200 village women, men and children attended different discussion meetings and aware raising sessions.
- RMMRU developed five-member trainers group.
- RMMRU also developed a proper management force under this project for smooth running of project activities.
Training of local NGOs to combat trafficking (2002-2004)
RMMRU implemented this two year training project titled “Training of local NGOs to combat trafficking” for grass root NGOs to combat trafficking. This project was funded by the British Council. Members of 5 NGOs from the trafficking prone areas such as Kustia, Jessore, Rajshahi and Meherpur participated in the training. The organizations were Rights Jessore, ACD Rajshahi, Mukti Nari, Palashipara Samaj Kallyan Samity and Center for Communication and Development. The project aimed at developing the capacity of the grass root NGOs so that they can train local opinion leaders and organise anti-trafficking programmes in their respective areas. RMMRU used its capacity developed through the CT project. RMMRU also monitored and evaluated their field level intervention and made an evaluation of the project.
