Remittance Management for Socio-Economic Stability of Migrant Families - SHAFAL

Time Frame: January 2025 - July 2027

RMMRU is implementing the project Remittance Management for Socio-Economic Stability of Migrant Families - SHAFAL, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). This long-term project aims to enhance the financial inclusion and economic resilience of Bangladeshi migrant workers and their families. By focusing on enhancement of knowledge, building awareness on digital and financial literacy, entrepreneurship development, and access to formal financial services, the project seeks to optimise remittance utilisation and promote sustainable economic empowerment.

Key components and interventions include community-level awareness campaigns focused on financial inclusion and remittance management, business training programs targeting returning women migrants and their family members, provision of grants and follow-up support to ensure successful business creation and income generation and establishment of referral mechanisms for skill-building and employment opportunities through collaboration with public and private sectors.

The objective of the project is to enhance the economic resilience of migrant workers and their families by improving the knowledge in financial literacy for better remittance management.
